clouds move in across the sky
billowing, gusting with the wind
the smell that comes with them,
damp
fresh
electric.
wetness sprinkles my arms, my face
moisture comes down on a breath of warm air
the rain comes, softly at first
pattering on the windows of houses
turning every surface into a tilework of raindrops
then the water drops down harder
pattering turns into a roar
water makes circular splashes on the sidewalk
as it lands
and my feet run through the wet grass
green blades tickling my toes
my eyes close as i squint through the deluge
running
through the rain.
